travwala LLC was started by Paul Cathcart , ECC (CLIA Certified Elite Cruise Counsellor), a highly accredited and certified travel professional with 9 years of experience.

He began his career as a travel agent in 2004, starting My Getaway Guru LLC and working part-time while being employed as a Senior Technical Engineer for Sprint. Although he enjoyed his full-time job, he was determined to follow his passion for traveling the world and pursuing his dreams of becoming a full-time travel agent.

After a downsizing at Sprint and a layoff from that company in 2008, he became even more determined to make his dreams come true. He estimated that he needed to work for another couple of years to further build up his client base and his bank account before he would make the leap into being a travel agent full-time. He joined ITT Corporation in early 2008 as a Senior IT Consultant. After several years working various contracts for the Federal Government, he was able to become a full-time travel agent in late 2010.

travwala LLC came about because Paul saw a need for it. Some of his clients and friends noticed how he was able to make a viable career out of being a travel agent and wondered if they too could get into the travel industry. Couple that with the downturn in the economy and seeing so many people either being laid off or having their hours cut, he put into action a plan to launch the company by early 2011. He knew he could help people with his extensive travel knowledge along with his ability to provide excellent personal service. Learning from the mistakes and triumphs over his years of growing his own travel business, he could help new agents hit the ground running. His passion for what he does shows and he finds himself continually learning about new suppliers and destinations and sharing that information with all of his travel agents.

Fast forward to 2013 and several years of being in operation, travwala LLC has earned recognition from many of its suppliers, including a coveted 2013 Most Improved Apple Agency Award from Apple Vacations.

For those wondering about the company name and its origins, it's actually an "Indian" word that Paul made up. The word -wala (or wallah) in India often refers to a seller or vendor of something. So travwala means a "Seller of Travel", which is exactly what our travel agents do!
